SPAK has reacted for the first time to A2 CNN regarding the investigations against the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, with accusations of corruption.

In response to your interest, we inform you: On the basis of the information on the reference of the criminal offense dated 08.02.2024 - compiled by the investigators of the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH), the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has registered Criminal Procedure no. .27/2024, which initially refers to the criminal offense: "Passive corruption of high state officials or of local elected officials" provided by Article 260 of the Criminal Code.
The information about the referral of the criminal offense was triggered by a report made by the citizen self-identified as NA. BKH investigators, after verifying the data and administering the documentary evidence, referred the relevant information about the criminal offense, on the basis of which it was registered the above criminal proceedings.
Up to this stage of the preliminary investigation, from the collected evidence, it has been concluded that there are concrete data, which are related not only to the criminal offense provided for by Article 260 of the Criminal Code, but also to the criminal offenses: "Active corruption of high state officials or local elected officials" provided by article 245, "Cleaning of the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity" provided by article 287/2 of Criminal Code and "Refusal for declaration, non-declaration, concealment or false declaration of assets, private interests of elected persons and public servants, or of any other person who has a legal obligation to declare" provided by article 257/a, pgf 2 of Criminal Code.
These offenses have already been reflected in the Register of Notifications of Criminal Offenses at the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime. (A2 Televizion)
