The Special Court has rejected the request for the release of Arben Meskuti, arrested in May 2024 in connection with the microcredit scandal.
CNN learns that Meskuti requested relief from the measure in one of the 2-month information sessions, the sessions where the Prosecution presents the progress of the investigations to the Court.
The investigation against Meskuti and several other suspects for "fraud with serious consequences" initially began at the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, but was later transferred for jurisdiction to SPAK.
We recall that the microcredit scandal also stirred Albanian politics, with the opposition accusing the government of favoring this activity, which, according to them, was often illegal. (A2 Televizion)
