At the request of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana, the court confiscated the assets of citizen Emiljan Burba and his family members, A2 CNN reports. Burba was convicted in Italy for the criminal offense of 'Drug Trafficking'.
From the investigations carried out in the context of the property proceedings against this citizen, it turned out that he was declared an international wanted by Interpol Rome, after the Court of Appeal, in Turin, Italy, sentenced him to 21 years of imprisonment for the criminal offense of "Drug Trafficking" and on 21.04.2014, he was arrested for the purpose of extradition to Italy.
This citizen, in cooperation with other persons, on 03.12.2003 in Rome, transported and kept for the purpose of trading, a quantity of several kilograms of heroin, which was provided from Albania and transported to Italy.
"The prosecution proved that the assets that this citizen owns are not justified from an economic point of view and are suspected to derive from criminal activity. The EB citizen does not appear to have been registered in any Regional Employment Office in Italy, even though he stated that he worked as a truck driver or mason and the high standard of living is not justified from an economic point of view, by him or his family members", says the prosecution.
The assets are suspected to have been created with income from the illegal activity of trading narcotics during the period 2003 - 2006, as it turns out that he has carried out this activity repeatedly during these years.
The court approved the prosecution's request for the confiscation of the following assets, two buildings, and their transfer to state ownership:
1.1 Property located in Vlorë district, Delvinë unit, Vanë address, construction without permission applied for legalization; AND
1.2 Property located in Vlorë district, Vergo unit, Vane address, construction without permission, applied for legalization. (A2 Televizion)
