Vlora police have arrested a 45-year-old man convicted in Italy for murder. Renald Gjini was arrested yesterday in the "Rilindja" neighborhood, with the aim of extradition to Italy.
"Sentenced by the Italian authorities to 12 years and 10 months of imprisonment, for the criminal offenses of "Murder" and "Unlicensed Possession of Weapons", the 45-year-old man, declared internationally wanted, has been located and arrested, with the aim of extradition to Italy. The structures of the Serious Crimes Investigation Sector, in cooperation with the Operational Section at the Vlora DVP, in continuation of the work to locate and capture citizens declared internationally wanted, based on the information provided and in cooperation with the counterpart offices of Interpol, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Il Obiettivo". As a result, yesterday, in the "Rilindja" neighborhood, the capture and provisional arrest took place, with the aim of extradition to Italy, of the citizen: Renald Gjini, 45 years old, resident of Vlora", the Police announced.
Gjini was declared an international wanted person after the Bologna Court of Appeal, Italy, sentenced this citizen to 12 years and 10 months in prison for the criminal offenses of "Murder" and "Unlicensed Possession of Weapons", according to Italian criminal legislation.
Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome are in close cooperation for further extradition procedures.
