Durrës police have launched an investigation into a doctor for medical negligence following the death of a patient during surgery. Police did not disclose the type of surgery, but said it involved a 54-year-old woman from the coastal city.
"The Criminal Investigation Specialists of the Durrës Police Station referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where the proceedings were initiated in a free state for the offense of "Neglect in Medical Treatment", against citizen I. Sh., 59 years old, resident of Durrës, with the duty of a doctor, after citizen M. Xh., 54 years old, resident of Durrës, lost her life during a surgical intervention in his clinic," the Police announced, according to A2 CNN.
The incident occurred during an operation at the doctor's clinic. After initial investigations, the procedural materials were sent to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Durrës for further investigations. (A2 Televizion)
