On Tuesday, the former president of the Republic, Ilir Meta, left for a few hours detention cells 313, where he has been isolated since October 21, to go to SPAK.
For his relocation, the underground tunnel that connects the SPAK building and the Special Court with the detention center was used, which left this action out of the sight of television cameras.
For the following 2 hours and 30 minutes, in the company of the lawyer Genci Gjokutaj, the former president gave explanations to the prosecutor, Sotir Kllapi, and an agent of BKH. According to the lawyer, Meta was only asked about one of the cases for which he is accused.
"It was asked about lobbying in the USA. Meta has been cooperative and very clarifying, as far as he knew and remembered, without referring you to the acts that will be made available to us and for other details that will be of interest, the investigation body will provide explanations, of course, on detailed. Meta in this process did not choose silence, did not choose avoidance, but chose."
In addition to giving explanations, as he publicly promised the day before, the former president also asked for explanations from SPAK prosecutors, questions for which, in a post on Facebook, Meta said that the prosecutors avoided them "due to incompetence".
"Our first question was what to do with our report submitted on December 6 to SPAK regarding the criminal kidnapping and banditry. Since they were interested in the issue of lobbying, after I answered all their questions, as the President of the Freedom Party, the second largest opposition force in the country, I asked them two questions of high public interest, namely the issue of illegal lobbying. First, what about the investigation of the McGonigal case, the FBI's chief agent sentenced to prison for corruption by the chief corrupter of internationals, now the Prime Minister? Secondly, what is done with the investigation about the illegal photograph with President Obama of "Bilal's wife" for which an Albanian-American citizen has been imprisoned in the United States of America?".
And while he kept his promise to answer the questions of the prosecutors, Meta could not keep his promise to answer the journalists' questions. The prosecutors said "no" to his request to appear, even if accompanied and handcuffed, in front of the media, a fact for which Meta apologized.
On Monday, Meta's ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, also appeared at SPAK, who said that she will give her statements only in court and not at SPAK. The Meta-Kryemadhi ex-spouses are being investigated by SPAK for "corruption", "money laundering" and "concealment and non-declaration of assets". (A2 Televizion)
