The Court of Appeals decided this Thursday to acquit the famous singer, Luzi Ejlli.
The General Jurisdiction Appeal accepted the appeal filed by lawyers Arbër Hoxha and Dritan Metani, overturning the decision of the Fier Court to sentence the singer to 1 year in prison for "forgery of documents", declaring him innocent.
His co-defendant, Fatmir Avdurramani, was also acquitted.
"The trial panel, returning from the deliberation room, in the absence of the prosecutor in the announcement of the decision, announces the decision with the following provision: Amending the decision of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Fier. Declare the defendants Luiz Ejlli and Fatmir Avdurramani innocent. Leaving in force the decision for the part of the seized materials. The Fier Court sentenced Luiz Ejllin to 1 year in prison, after he was found guilty of forgery of documents committed in collaboration.
Referring to the investigative file, A2 CNN writes that Luiz Ejlli, in 2015, when he still possessed the notary's seals even though the Ministry of Justice had revoked his right to practice the profession, in collaboration with another citizen, falsified a notarial statement that was later used in 2022 at the Lushnja Prosecutor's Office to justify illegally acquired assets.
