In the show "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli, on A2 CNN, chronicle journalist Poli Hoxha revealed details about how the cyberattack against this structure was discovered by IT experts at the Special Prosecution Office.
Hoxha said that indications of a possible data hacking began after an external intervention was detected in the e-mail of prosecutor Enkeleda Millonai, at a time when the latter was on leave.
"The expert, maybe there are some who work there, has caught movement in the e-mail of prosecutor Millonai. Mrs. Millonai was asked and she was actually not at work, she was on personal business or sick. And she says: I did not open the e-mail at all, I did not harass her," revealed Poli Hoxha in "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli, on A2 CNN.
He then added that this discovery raised the alarm and the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, after an extraordinary meeting with the staff of special prosecutors, decided to launch the investigation that has so far put Zambak Gjoni and Arnold Rrokaj behind bars.
"The head of the structure, Mr. Dumani, is notified. An extraordinary meeting is held and a check is made and it turns out that two other prosecutors have also been hacked. From the verifications, an attempt was also made to access Mr. Dumani's e-mail. The situation is blocked, the investigation begins, and those arrests also took place. An in-depth investigation continues. Not that it is difficult that they have two arrested, but it is an investigation that requires even more cyber expertise. They have both Israeli and American cyber experts there," the journalist further revealed in "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli, on A2 CNN.
In conclusion, Poli Hoxha said that his sources have confirmed that the hackers sought to create a permanent gateway to steal data from SPAK's investigative files.
"So far, it is suspected, I say this with my own sources, that in addition to external interference, the intention was to create a gateway, whose e-mail would be captured first, and the intention was to create a permanent gateway, disguised inside so that they could then have access and open it at certain times so as not to be discovered," the journalist confessed in "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli, on A2 CNN.
