Seven Albanians were arrested on Wednesday in the Galicia region, as part of an operation conducted by the Spanish Civil Guard.
Spanish authorities announce that during the operation in the Rego do Alcalde area, a powerful three-engine dinghy was seized, as well as a significant amount of cocaine, still unweighed.
Also, packages of drugs and other materials related to drug trafficking activities were found.
The arrested have been escorted to the police station for questioning and it is expected that the investigations will reveal more details about this international drug trafficking operation.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, this is the first case where a gang of Balkan origin attempts to unload drugs directly on the coast of Galicia.
Local media report that the arrested Albanians are also linked to a fishing boat seized in 2023, which was carrying 7,500 kilograms of cocaine.
Last week, three Belgian and six Albanian citizens were arrested in Vigo for their suspected connection to a 1,100 kilogram shipment of cocaine that was found inside a container that arrived at the port of Vigo. (A2 Televizion)
