Criminal groups operating in our country, during the past year, had expanded their activity mainly into the field of drug trafficking.
According to official data from the Ministry of Interior, during 2024, a total of 40 criminal groups were partially targeted by the State Police. Compared to 2023, fewer criminal groups were targeted, in figures, 9 groups less. According to the Ministry, the data shows that the majority of these groups were linked to activity in the field of narcotics, reports A2 CNN.
Criminal groups have been identified in Tirana, Durrës, Vlorë, Gjirokastër, Fier, Shkodër, Elbasan, Kurbin and Fushë-Krujë.

In quite a few cases, it has resulted that police officers have also become part of these organizations, collaborating with traffickers in facilitating their drug trafficking.
