The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani, revealed today SPAK's strategy for combating electoral crime.
At a joint roundtable on electoral crimes with the head of the Central Election Commission, Chief Prosecutor Olsian Çela and other political exponents and beyond.
Dumani said that electoral crime should be tackled in a timely manner, because according to him, this way it has a greater public effect. To achieve this, he said that SPAK has planned to establish investigative groups in the field.
The head of SPAK called on prosecutors not to be afraid, as long as they are fulfilling their legal obligations, writes A2 CNN.
"You said that no one should be afraid as long as they are fulfilling their constitutional legal obligations. We are the institution of criminal prosecution and it is our constitutional and legal obligation that whenever a case is presented to us to be treated as a criminal fact, we are obliged to conduct all relevant investigations to file an indictment."
We have very good cooperation with the Attorney General's office. We have agreed to determine the concrete way in which cases that will be presented to our office or the Attorney General's office will be handled, to avoid conflicts of competence, to resolve these problems in real time and for the investigation to continue.
SPAK has drafted a strategy, the purpose of which is to prevent and investigate criminal offenses during the 2025 Assembly elections in a complete and transparent manner, for offenses that are within the competence of this structure. SPAK has also foreseen investigative groups in the field, which will act in coordination and cooperation with the CEC, the State Police and other law enforcement agencies. When electoral crime is tackled in time, the public effect is great and vice versa. Prolonging post facto investigations, even if it produces justice, creates distrust", said Dumani. (A2 Televizion)
