Europol operation with 566 arrested, Albanian Interior Minister comments on Albania's role

The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has reacted regarding the huge Europol operation during the month of November in 26 different countries, during which 566 people were arrested and large amounts of drugs, weapons and other illegal items were seized.

According to Balla, this action also extended to our country, where 28 citizens were arrested and firearms, military ammunition, 81 kg of narcotic cannabis and many doses of cocaine were seized.

In Albania, the operation was coordinated by the Europol Directorate and 315 police officers were engaged, who exercised control over 2648 subjects, 1525 citizens, 987 vehicles, 40 postal packages and 92 premises.

The minister adds that the action was aimed at firearms, narcotics, and immigrant trafficking networks, as well as hitting high-risk criminal networks.

In total, in 26 European countries, during this operation, 566 citizens were arrested, 218 for human trafficking, 186 for drug trafficking, 69 for arms trafficking, 89 for other crimes, and 310 firearms, military ammunition and about 1 ton of drugs.
