The arrest of the much-wanted Dritan Rexhepi in Istanbul, Turkey, caused the failure of the next court session against him in the Special Court. In this court, labeled as the Albanian "king" of cocaine, he was tried in absentia as one of the seven accused for the kidnapping and disappearance of Jan Prenga.
In Thursday's session, the SPAK prosecutor requested postponement of the session, in order to notify the defendant. We have been informed about the arrest in Turkey of the defendant Dritan Rexhepi, said the prosecutor, according to which SPAK will address the Turkish authorities with a letter of recommendation to inform Rexhepi of the process that is taking place against him in Albania, as well as the date of the next session. Dritan Rexhepi is being tried as one of the accused of SPAK as the one who ordered the kidnapping of Jan Prenga in January 2020 in Kamëz.
The order given while Rexhepi was imprisoned in Ecuador, in Latin America, was aimed at coercing Prenga's brother, who had stolen a quantity of cocaine trafficked from Ecuador to England.
According to the Special Prosecutor's Office, the order was given by Rexhepi and his co-defendant Gentian Funiqi (Doda), the organization was made by the defendants Martin Bleta and Korado Keshteja, while the execution of the kidnapping was made by the defendants Artan Doçaj, Aldo Majnishta, Geraldo Martini and another unidentified person. Earlier, Festim Bexhdili was sentenced to life imprisonment for this event.
