The appeal of GJKKO has upheld the sentence of 28 years in prison for Ilir Selmani, accused of the murder of Santiago Malko. Ilir Selmani appealed the May 3rd decision of the Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime, which sentenced him to 28 years in prison, but the appeal dismissed it.
Also, Elvis Gacaj, accused of being involved in the murder of the former policeman, was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Meanwhile, the Special Prosecutor's Office requested a total of 32 years of imprisonment for the 2 defendants.
Earlier for this event, the citizen Blendi Teta was also convicted as an accomplice in the murder. Meanwhile, a judicial process in absentia continues for the two brothers Leonard and Erlis Duka, considered as the initiators of the event, and against 4 other people.
Investigations into the murder showed that the motive for the serious incident was the clash of criminal groups in Tirana. The former police officer, Santiago Malko, a friend of Ervis Martinaj, was killed with ten bullets in his car on the evening of August 27, 2019 near the "Porcelan" area in Tirana. Santiago Malko once served in the ranks of the State Police and was then dismissed. (A2 Televizion)
