Jennifer Alcani, an Albanian girl who was in an accident a few days ago in Italy, has passed away at the age of 13, writes A2 CNN.
According to foreign media, the accident occurred in Abbadia Lariana in the tunnel at 05:00 in the morning. The girl was in the back seat of a BMW traveling at 150 kilometers per hour and was driven by a 22-year-old friend who had been drinking.
Jennifer Alcani was only 13 years old. On Thursday, January 9, in the late evening, she left home secretly from her parents, to spend the evening at McDonald's with two older friends. At 5 a.m. on Friday, her mother, who knew nothing and thought she was sleeping in her bedroom, received the visit that no parent would want to have, that of the police who told her: "Your daughter is in the hospital, she had an accident in Abbadia Lariana."
Jennifer died on January 16 at the Manzoni hospital in Lecco, after six days of agony, without ever regaining consciousness. On Thursday afternoon, the doctors had to give up. She was admitted to the Neuroreanimation ward, where she had been taken at dawn after the accident on the provincial road 72. Her condition immediately appeared bad. Throughout the week, her friends, even without being able to see her, had gathered in front of the hospital, under her window, writes A2 CNN.
The little girl, Jenny to her friends, her father of Albanian origin, lived in Pescarenico with her mother. At dawn on Friday, January 10, she was traveling in a BMW 1 Series, driven by a 22-year-old friend. The car was not his, but that of a 19-year-old friend from Malgrate, who shot the video posted on TikTok. He was not driving because he had not yet managed to get his license, having failed the exam several times. They had spent the evening together and the two boys had been drinking heavily. Bottles of alcohol were found in the car. Jenny had fallen: she was sleeping in the back seat. The video posted on TikTok captures the last moments of the crazy race through the tunnel, which was apparently filmed by the 19-year-old, who filmed his friend driving, with music playing at high volume.
The accident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. at the entrance to the tunnel that connects State Road 36. The driver, who was traveling at over 150 kilometers per hour, lost control of the powerful car when exiting a half-turn, which crashed into a concrete curb. But while the two young men escaped with minor injuries, Jenny, who was sleeping in the back seat, wearing a seat belt, never woke up. She suffered head trauma and fell into an irreversible coma.
The 22-year-old driver, initially investigated for serious road damage, is now charged with vehicular homicide. Moreover, after the collision, he tried to leave the emergency room (he was practically unharmed) to avoid the alcohol test. Jenny was enrolled in the sixth grade at the Stoppani school in Lecco, although she rarely attended and had failed twice. She would have turned 14 in April. The Albanian girl's funeral will take place on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Basilica of San Nicolò in Lecco, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
