Assets of the Çopja brothers, SPAK seizes 10 million USD in

The Special Prosecution Office, SPAK, has been able to freeze an asset worth 10 million US dollars in cryptocurrency belonging to brothers Franc and Hajdar Çopja. The seizure of the value adds to the numerous assets seized in the investigation into the two brothers accused by SPAK of being leaders of a criminal organization involved in international drug trafficking and other serious crimes in Albania.

The Special Structure announced that for the execution of the court decision to seize millions of cryptocurrencies, actions were coordinated with EUROPOL, the federal police of Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain.

To find and seize the virtual currency, we collaborated closely with a global company known for managing the "stablecoin" cryptocurrency and a world-renowned exchange that manages various cryptocurrency assets.

Based on previous court decisions, SPAK has also frozen 4 bank accounts, worth almost 130 thousand euros in total, as well as cash amounts of almost 1 million euros. Although registered in the names of other persons, but suspected of being owned by the Çopja brothers, SPAK has seized 4 villas in Tirana along with the surrounding land, 1 hotel in the capital, 14 land areas in Kavajë, Vlorë and Elbasan, 4 garages, 5 service units, 3 apartments, one of which is a duplex, as well as a trading company along with its bank accounts.

The Special Court accepted SPAK's request to issue security measures against the Çopja brothers and 31 other people at the end of July last year. Only 13 of the measures were executed. Earlier, Franc Çopja was extradited from the United Arab Emirates to Belgium, while his brother, Hajdar Çopja, remains at large.

Following the testimony of the repentant Nuredin Dumani and data from the SKY application made available by Belgium, SPAK raised suspicions of their involvement in 26 criminal events, including the "Bradasheshi massacre" with 3 people killed, in December 2018. (A2 Televizion)
