Border Police find over 3,000 liters of fuel on Sazan Island, suspected of being

The Vlora border police have managed to prevent a suspected case of narcotics trafficking.

After receiving information about a suspicious vehicle that could be making illegal movements, coming from Italy and then leaving again towards the neighboring country, checks were launched throughout the area.

During the checks, border police found over 3,000 liters of fuel on the island of Sazan, which could have been used by the watercraft suspected of carrying narcotics, writes A2 CNN.

After spotting the case, the Border Police called all watercraft drivers to report the location of their vehicles, placing them in a registration that had been missing for years.

Despite the fact that the watercraft was not captured and the case remained pending, investigations have already begun into the persons who took the fuel to Sazan Island, as well as the motive for sending the substance to Sazan.

According to police sources, the incident occurred 4 days ago.

There are also suspicions about another version of this event, which is expected to be confirmed in the future. As learned from several unofficial sources, the border police and the Guardia di Financa have initially identified the vehicle that entered Albanian territorial waters, where they have begun pursuing it.

According to sources, the vessel wanted to enter Albanian territorial waters, to refuel near the island of Sazan and then continue its journey. But when the pursuit began, the vessel completely changed direction, managing to escape the Guardia di Financës and the coast guard. It is believed that the vessel is suspected of having left for Turkey.

It is suspected that they threw something into the sea, but it remains unconfirmed. After losing track of the vehicle, they began checks in Karaburun and Sazan, while on the island of Sazan, 3,000 liters of fuel, divided into cans, hidden in the area that would be used to carry out subsequent criminal activity, were identified.
