A day after the opposition protest that blocked 5 main roads in Tirana, the police arrested 7 protesters and prosecuted 61 others at large, including 40 MPs and representatives of the Democratic Party.

They are charged with a number of charges and criminal offences, such as "Obstructing the circulation of vehicles", "Organising and participating in illegal gatherings and demonstrations", "Disobeying the orders of a police officer", "Disrupting order and of public peace" and "Opposition of the police officer".

The seven arrested protesters are expected to appear in front of the Tirana Court to familiarize themselves with the security measure. In addition to their arrest, the Police of Tirana proceeded to release 40 deputies of the Assembly of Albania and representatives of the Democratic Party, the Republican Party and the Freedom Party, as well as 21 citizens, on the same charges.

Among the MPs prosecuted are Flamur Noka, Xhelal Mziu, Albana Vokshi, Oerd Bylykbashi, Elda Hoti, Gazment Bardhi and Agron Gjekmarkaj. The latter, deputy speaker of the Assembly, at the same time and political leader of the Lezhë District, positioned in the area known as the "Palace with arrows", lost consciousness during the clash with the police and was sent to the hospital to receive medical help.

Representatives of the opposition made serious accusations as they claimed that Gjekmarkaj was raped by the police, while the police themselves denied such a thing. (A2 Televizion)
