At the request of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, the court confiscated the assets of citizen Alda Klosi and her ex-husband, accused of the criminal offense 'Refusal to declare, failure to declare, concealment or false declaration of assets, private interests of elected persons and public servants or of any other person who has a legal obligation to declare' provided for by article 257/a/2 of the Criminal Code.

The court confiscated:

The monetary amount of 368,000.00 (three hundred and sixty-eight thousand) Lekë, 15,600.00 (fifteen thousand and six hundred) USD, 462,950.00 (four hundred and sixty-two thousand and nine hundred and fifty) Euro, seized for the account of criminal proceedings no. 9220/2022 and cashed into the account of the Prosecutor's Office on 10.01.2023;

From the analysis of the facts and the administered documentation, it results that the real estate properties of the apartment and garage type, owned by her and the related person, are assets not justified by legal income. These real estate properties have been hidden and have not been declared in the ILDKPI declarations by the investigated person AK," the court said in its decision.

How was Klosi sentenced?

In October 2024, the Court of Appeal upheld the 18-month prison sentence given by the First Instance Court to the former Finance Ministry official, accused of "hiding assets". The 4-year and 8-month prison sentence for Rozeta Dobi and the 3-year and 4-month prison sentence for her son Javier Dobi, accused of "theft", also remained unchanged.

The "turning point" of the story that led to their conviction was a denunciation by Alda Klos of the theft of 120 thousand euros from her apartment. The amount was admitted to have been taken by the sanitation worker Rozeta Dobi, who had staged a robbery.

But later, after police wiretaps and a second search of her apartment, nearly 400,000 euros more were found hidden in the exhaust pipe, which Klosi refused to call hers. But Dobi declared to the authorities that the money was Klosi's.

Alda Klosi, former chief of staff of former minister Arben Ahmetaj, was arrested in February 2023 on charges of money laundering, writes A2.

She was robbed by sanitation worker Rozeta Dobi and her son Javier Dobi. The former official stated that the 120,000 euros that were stolen from her belonged to the family of her uncle, Ylli Çika, who lived in America, and who left it to her to complete the house and for necessities after he was ill with cancer. He passed away on January 18, A2 reports.

Klosi claimed to investigators that the money was his uncle's for furnishing the house or for storing it. But unofficial sources told A2 CNN that the family of Ylli Çika, a former dental surgeon, had no knowledge of Alda Klosi's statements to the police and prosecutor's office, and they have denied their involvement in this story.

After the arrest of the nurse and her son, the police found another 400 thousand euros hidden in the suction pipe in the Dobi family's house. Rozeta Dobi herself said that she had taken the money from Klos' house. (A2 Televizion)
