The State Police, in cooperation with the National Bureau of Investigation, has arrested 2 people and has announced the search for two others, accused of being involved in a shootout in the village of Rranxë in Shkodër, at the end of August last year, reports A2 CNN.
The Special Court has approved security measures of imprisonment for four people, three assassins, as well as the target of the assassination. But so far, only two of the assassins have been arrested, while the third, as well as the target of the assassination, are wanted.
What happened?
The investigations conducted show that on 23.08.2024, at around 17.00 in the afternoon, the persons under investigation IS, ST and FL, together with other unidentified persons, set off in an organized manner with armored vehicles towards the village of Rranxë, in the Bushat Administrative Unit, Vau i Dejës Municipality.
The persons under investigation were armed and there are reasonable suspicions, based on evidence, that they went to this area with the intention of killing the person under investigation AP and his family members, residents of this area.
While they were passing through this area, they were shot with a firearm by the person under investigation AP. From the evidence obtained at the scene, it appears that there was an exchange of fire, not damage to the health of the persons involved, but only to the vehicles. One of the vehicles in which the persons under investigation were traveling was damaged as a result of the shooting at the scene. It turned out to be unregistered, with unknown ownership and with foreign license plates, which do not correspond to the same vehicle.
On February 18, 2025, the General Directorate of the State Police in cooperation with the National Bureau of Investigation executed security measures for the persons under investigation IS and ST and the persons under investigation FL and AP were declared wanted.
Also, on the same date, pursuant to decision no. 123, dated 17.02.2025, of the Special Court, a search was conducted in several apartments and premises in the city of Shkodra, which are suspected of being used as bases for housing persons under investigation or as places where evidence for criminal offenses, which are being investigated by the Special Prosecution, could be found.
