Albania officially requests Turkey to extradite Dritan Rexhepi

Albania has officially asked Turkey, this Wednesday, for the extradition of Dritan Rexhepi. The Ministry of Justice announces that it has placed at the disposal of the authorities in Ankara, the Albanian justice file for Rexhepi, which also includes the request for extradition.

" The Ministry of Justice informs you that today, on 22.11.2023, it forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be sent to the Ministry of Justice of Turkey, the file prepared with the request for extradition to Albania of the citizen, Dritan Rexhepi! His file, with the request for the extradition of the citizen Dritan Rexhepi, has been started based on the requests submitted by SPAK and the General Prosecutor's Office to the Ministry of Justice on 16.11.2023 and 17.11.2023", announces the MD .

We remind you that Rexhepi was arrested 12 days ago in a residential complex in Istanbul, as he is accused of being the head of an international drug cartel. Rexhepi, whose real name is Gramoz, has been detained thanks to an operation carried out by the Italian and Albanian authorities.

Rexhepi was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Court of Serious Crimes for killing two people with firearms on January 6, 1999.

But even though he had a conviction against him, he was on the list of most wanted by Albanian and Italian justice. As of 2022, he was behind bars in Ecuador, where he was caught in 2014 with 240 kilograms of cocaine and is suspected of running cocaine-trafficking operations from his cell.

Rexhepi is also accused of organizing and ordering the kidnapping of Jang Prenga (who later died), after his brother, who was involved in drug trafficking, failed to deliver 260 kilograms of cocaine to Great Britain . (A2 Televizion)
