British justice authorities have extended their hunt to Albania for the assets of Ermal Biba, a 41-year-old from Lezha convicted in their country as the leader of a criminal drug trafficking group.

After requesting SPAK's assistance in identifying 41-year-old Biba's assets in Albania, the British side is requesting their freezing until a confiscation order is issued, writes A2.

The Special Court has given the "green light" to SPAK's request for the execution of a letter of attorney from the British partners against Biba. In the decision, the Special Court instructs the Special Structure, SPAK, to take measures to prevent the alienation of a 2-story apartment in Lezha and a "Mercedes Benz SLK" vehicle, as well as to block all monetary amounts, properties and bank accounts in Albania held either legally or as beneficiaries by Ermal Biba.

The 41-year-old was sentenced in August 2023 by Leeds Crown Court, United Kingdom, to 13 years and 6 months in prison. According to the court, he had organized the supply of at least 5 kg of cocaine in Harrogate between September 2019 and May 2022, and with his associates produced 144 kg of cannabis. According to British authorities, the financial benefit of Biba and his associates from drug trafficking amounted to 1.48 million British pounds.

For the justice of the United Kingdom, Ermal Biba was the head of an organized network, which also included several Albanians, a British citizen and a Pole, who trafficked drugs in Harrogate, Yorkshire. In December 2024, a judge at Leeds Crown Court issued a seizure order against Biba's assets and that a confiscation hearing will be held in this court during 2025.  (A2 Televizion)
