A 44-year-old man who was declared an international wanted man has been arrested by members of the Operational Force.
Ilir Zotaj has been arrested and sentenced to more than 5 years in prison by Italian justice.
"As part of the operation "Operacionalja 28", the internationally wanted citizen Ilir Zotaj alias Zio Bushi, 44 years old, resident of Tirana, was located in Tirana and provisionally arrested. The Court of Appeal of Perugia, Italy, has sentenced this citizen to 5 years, 6 months and 17 days of imprisonment, for the criminal offenses "Criminal organization" and "Drug trafficking", provided for by the Italian Criminal Code", the police announced.
The 44-year-old is suspected of being part of a criminal organization consisting of Albanian citizens, which organized and financed the trafficking of narcotics, mainly from Belgium to Italy.
During the period December 2008 - March 2010, approximately 10.4 kg of cocaine trafficked by this organization were seized in several cities in Italy, Belgium and Albania.
Interpol Tirana is cooperating with Interpol Rome to finalize his extradition procedure to Italy. (A2 Televizion)
