Three days after being extradited from Dubai, Florenc Çapjas was informed by the Court that the security measure "arrest in prison" for him will remain in effect.
Çapja's extradition took place under extreme security measures on the afternoon of May 2. He was a name that had been wanted for years by Albanian justice. While hiding from justice, Florenc Çapja was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Special Court, as one of the orderers of the double execution of Nezir and Gentian Beqiri, father and son, in 2012, in Elbasan.
As soon as he touched Albanian soil, he was handed over to the Prison Directorate, to then be sent to prison cells, writes A2.
Florenc Çapja is the nephew of Ardian Çapja, also sentenced to life imprisonment for the double crime of father and son. According to SPAK, Florenc and Ardian Çapja were the ones who ordered the murder of Gentian Beqiri, after suspicions that he was involved in the murder of Ardian's brother, Sokol Çapja. The accused as executor, Olsi Leku, was also sentenced to life imprisonment for this crime, whose names were revealed by the repentant justice official, Ervis Bardhi.
Florenc Çapja was also investigated for the murder of Fadil Mema, the former head of Elbasan Road. The case against him was dismissed due to lack of evidence, but last summer the Supreme Court ordered a retrial of the case in the Elbasan Court.
Çapje's name was mentioned twice in the testimony of the repentant justice official, Nuredin Dumani, once as the person who ordered an uncommitted murder and once as the person who had given him a vehicle used for a murder.
In January 2023, at the request of SPAK, the GJKKO placed under seizure 10 properties of Florenc Çapje located in Pogradec and Elbasan, including 4 plots of land, two residential buildings, a bar-cafe and an Audi vehicle.
Florenc Çapja is the latest wanted fugitive to be extradited from Dubai, a country that has become a haven for Albanian fugitives in recent years due to the lack of an extradition agreement. Following the deportation of Plaurent Dervishaj and Julian Meçaj from the same country in August 2024, it appears that Dubai is no longer a safe haven for Albanian crime bosses. (A2 Televizion)
