The First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Kukës accepted the request of the prosecutor in the case and this Monday imposed the security measure "Arrest in prison" for Shkëlqim Qenaj and Avdulla Mallaki, who were placed in police custody for arms trafficking from Kosovo to Albania.
According to sources for A2 CNN, they were arrested on Friday, July 4, at a place called "Ura e Hasit" by the Kukës blues. Shkëlqim Qenaj and Avdulla Mallaki, residents of Prizren, were trafficking weapons through the green border with Kosovo, with the aim of selling them in our country.
After conducting the checks, the officers found and seized 8 firearms in the trunk of the car, each placed in separate bags. It is suspected that they were going to sell them to 2 other people who fled as soon as they saw the Police Services and are still being sought by the Kukes Police.
This is not the first time that police have dismantled criminal groups involved in arms trafficking from Kosovo to Albania. The last case was on May 30th, when after a five-month investigation, police arrested 10 people involved in this criminal activity.
The General Director of the State Police, Ilir Proda, previously described cooperation with the Kosovo police as a model of success in the region, referring in particular to the successive strikes on several groups that traffic firearms from Kosovo to Albania.
And for the latest case in Kukës, he shared his gratitude for the local police structures, but also for the citizens, who, according to Ilir Proda, are increasingly trusting the State Police. (A2 Televizion)
