A year after the murder of Gentian Bejtje in the courtyard of his apartment in Larushk, Fushë-Krujë, the Tirana Prosecution Office closed the investigation only for one accessory to the perpetrators of the crime.
Ilir Beqaraj, arrested after the incident, has been taken as a defendant by the prosecution, which is requesting that the capital's court try him for "premeditated murder", committed in collaboration, "unlicensed possession of weapons" and "forgery of identity cards".
According to the Tirana prosecutor's office, Ilir Beqaraj, also known by the surnames Brahimi or Mançellari, had the role of an accessory in the incident. The investigation has proven that Beqaraj was able to remove the 4 suspected perpetrators of the murder from the scene, taking them to the village of Hasan, where they were able to burn the car in which they committed the murder.
Analysis of security camera footage in the area has shown that at various times he drove his vehicle near the victim's apartment.
In the "Golf" type vehicle used by the Bejtje killers to escape after burning the vehicle used in the crime, a DNA profile of Beqaraj was found. A genetic profile was also found for Flodian Plaku, who was declared wanted by the justice system. Meanwhile, the Tirana prosecution continues the investigation to identify the perpetrators of the crime.
Gentian Bejtja was shot near his apartment in Larushk on March 15, 2024, while he was being sought by the police. He was shot with automatic fire by four people. The Scientific Police estimated that out of the four Kalashnikovs found in the perpetrators' burned vehicle, three of them had fired bullets at the 43-year-old. Before the incident, Bejtja had survived three assassination attempts. (A2 Televizion)
