Tirana Police have identified and arrested 64-year-old Isuf Hasa, as the perpetrator of the murder of his neighbor Xhemal Meta in Zallbastar.
Isuf Has is a neighbor of the 81-year-old. The Tirana police director said that after killing him with a hammer after a fight, he also took the amount of lek he had with him. After the arrest, 200 thousand old lek were found on him. Meanwhile, the hammer with which he shot him to death was found in Vora, in the apartment of the perpetrator's daughter.
The elderly man had left his house for the village cafe when he was found dead by local residents. For years he had lived alone in Shëngjin i Vogël, part of the Zall-Bastar administrative unit, while his family, including his wife, live in Tirana. Meta had some small cattle and chickens, which he took care of on a daily basis.
Investigators suspect that the elderly man may have had a conflict with local residents over village matters, but the possibility that he was hit with the intention of stealing cannot be ruled out. This is because, according to A2's sources, the 81-year-old man's wallet and several other items he was carrying were not found, but the house was found intact.
When asked about the incident and any suspicions they may have, the family members told the police that the elderly man had no conflicts with anyone and they do not suspect any of the people living nearby, as they are also blood relatives.
Only 4 families live in the area and have been questioned by the police, but they declare that they have no knowledge of the incident.
