The exhibition "Unexpected Journeys of Life" was the event that opened the days of remembrance this February. In the focus of the camera were portraits and stories of 40 former political persecuted, men and women from different generations, many of whom were present in the lobby of the Tirana pyramid, which was chosen not by chance as the location of the opening ceremony of the events that call for the communist past.
"As long as we do not have museums in the places of suffering, as long as the camps of Tepelena, Spaç and Qafë e Barit are ruined in the state they are in today and very soon, not only will they not be, but the witnesses of the time will not be either... Let's not let memory be ruined, because it is not only our memory, but also Europe's," said Jonila Godole, from the Institute for Democracy, Media and Culture.
Remembrance days have been organized for 10 years in the capital, and quite a few have traveled to districts, to museum sites, or even to the villa of former dictator Hoxha.
Films, documentaries, exhibitions, scientific conferences, but also new publications, are expected to be presented during this 10th jubilee edition of the Days of Remembrance, which will take place in Tirana from February 19 to 24, 2025.
