Today, the Council of Ministers approved the declaration of the city of Konispol as an Urban Architectural Ensemble with special historical and cultural values, a decision that paves the way for the protection, restoration and promotion of this center with rare heritage.
With traditional dwellings dating back to the 19th-20th centuries, traces of the old bazaar, characteristic architecture with worked stones, cobblestone alleys, and even neighborhoods with tribal names and ancient settlements in the Ktisma Pass, Konispoli represents a rare urban and cultural identity in southern Albania.
Throughout history, Konispol has been a hotbed of resistance and national culture, while today this new status constitutes an important step towards sustainable development through cultural tourism and the protection of our heritage, writes A2 CNN.
This decision comes as a result of the work of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, in accordance with Law No. 27/2018 "On Cultural Heritage and Museums", to guarantee the preservation and valorization of immovable properties of special value. (A2 Televizion)
