The Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, announced through a post on social networks that the Council of Ministers has approved the declaration of the city of Konispol as an Urban Architectural Ensemble.
This decision was made because Konispol is a city with special historical and cultural values, thus paving the way for the protection, restoration and promotion of this center with rare heritage.
"With traditional houses dating back to the 19th-20th centuries, traces of the old bazaar, characteristic architecture with worked stones, cobblestone alleys, to neighborhoods with tribal names and ancient settlements in the Qafë e Ktismave, Konispoli represents a rare urban and cultural identity in southern Albania. Throughout history, Konispoli has been a hotbed of resistance and national culture, while today this new status constitutes an important step towards sustainable development through cultural tourism and the protection of our heritage. This decision comes as a result of the work of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, in accordance with Law No. 27/2018 "On Cultural Heritage and Museums", to guarantee the preservation and valorization of real estate with special values", announces Gonxha.
