The Toast Ritual is now recognized as a National Heritage Value, following the decision taken at the meeting of the National Council for Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Toasting is a customary occurrence in the form of a family ritual that is primarily concerned with bringing people together on family or social occasions and represents a high degree of Albanian hospitality.
The purpose of the toast is to show respect and attention to the friend, creating a warm and generous climate for him.
As a characteristic of the proper functioning and rules at the table, there has been the presence of the toastmaster as the head of the table and opposite him the toastmasters who are variable in their roles. The relationship between them is about mutual congratulations and mutual respect of the parties, a behavior that is demonstrated in front of all the guests invited to the table.
The Toast ritual has, over the centuries, taken the form of a moral code respected and implemented throughout our space, in which many other elements of our spiritual heritage are interconnected. (A2 Televizion)
