More than two decades after the end of the war in Kosovo, the village of Cahan i Hasit returns to the center of national historical memory.
The Elez and Fasli Cahani Tower, once a shelter for KLA soldiers and leaders, has today become a symbol of pride and resistance.
The KLA War Veterans Organization, Has branch, erected a memorial plaque in honor of the role this tower played during the war. The memorial ceremony was attended by prominent war figures and representatives of the local community.
Xhevdet Thaçi, head of the OVL-KLA branch in Has, emphasized the strategic importance of Cahan in supplying and organizing the KLA, as a key node to war zones and a refuge for fighters.
Mahir Hasani, former KLA superior, recalled the days when every step in Cahan carried danger, but also determination for freedom, writes A2 CNN.
On behalf of the Cahani family, Imer Cahani expressed his gratitude for this commemorative act and for the respect for the sacrifice of his family. The ceremony marked another milestone in preserving the memory of the KLA war and honoring those who gave everything for freedom. (A2 Televizion)
