The budget of the Durrës Municipality for 2025 passed with 29 votes in favor and 8 abstentions, at the next meeting of the Municipal Council.
The votes in favor of 28 members of the majority were joined by the vote of one of the members of the opposition, while the fiscal package passed with 28 votes in favor and 10 abstentions.
The next year's budget is worth about ALL 5.4 billion and is 21% higher than last year's. With this budget, 14 new municipal projects will be financed, while a part of it will go to Reconstruction, roads, education, and social services and social housing.
For the right-wing councilor Joni Myshketa, the reconstruction process had to be closed by the Albanian government, because part of the funds that would go to projects for the development of the city are spent on closing the wounds of the 2019 earthquake. This item in the budget amounts to 62 % of the total investment budget. During the meeting, the mayor Emiriana Sako declared that the "Ushina" palace in district no. 5 of the city will be rebuilt in the same place.
"This year we have introduced as an important, new investment of the reconstruction program, the reconstruction of the Ushina palace. This is good news that I want to give to the residents of neighborhood no. 5, because it was their early request that this facility be rebuilt there, but since we have always analyzed the apartments in the new neighborhood of reconstruction, it turns out that there the numbers are going towards the bottom. So we have the opportunity to accommodate the residents of this building with the reconstruction of this building", said Sako.
During the meeting, DP adviser Ardian Muka raised a number of questions related to the budget and the fiscal package, but Mayor Sako answered that all these questions should have been raised in committee meetings and not in the UN meeting.
Councilor Muka made a public request regarding the receipt of the contract that the Durrës municipality has with the Sharra landfill for waste processing, for which he received a guarantee that it would be made available to him.
All other items on the agenda passed with the votes in favor of the 38 councilors present at the meeting. (A2 Televizion)
