The year 2030 is a realistic target for joining the European Union. This was the answer given by the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Kaja Kallas, when asked by journalists at the joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama. According to her, the adoption and implementation of reforms, especially the rule of law, is important.
"2030 is a realistic target for joining the European Union, if we all take the right steps along the way. Not only with the reforms that need to be adopted, but also implemented, the rule of law is particularly important as it is one of the foundations of the EU and the prosperity of a country. If they have confidence in your legal system, they have confidence to invest. It is realistic if we all do our homework."
For his part, the head of the Albanian government said that Albania is working every day towards this objective.
"Our plan is to successfully conclude the negotiations by 2027. The ambition is to open all chapters within a year, it is part of the agreed plan and when these become reality there is no obstacle, as long as the EU has opened the door. No one is stopping us. On May 11, we will receive the result to move this process forward." (A2 Televizion)
