Edi Rama's receipt of the Presidential Medal of Honor in Israel has been accompanied by criticism on social media due to the situation in Gaza. In response to a follower who told him that "you lost a lot with what you did to Israel", Rama explained that the medal is in the name of the Albanian people who protected the Jews during World War II. As for the current situation, the head of government stressed that Albania is in line with the European Union and that his position is for a solution between the two states.
"I lost a lot because I received a medal of honor on behalf of Albania and the Albanian people that was deserved for Albania and the Albanians and overdue? For this I lost a lot? As for those who link this to the stance on the situation in Gaza, I mean, I would say refer to Albania's public stances at the United Nations where we have consistently stood in the same line as the EU, where we have called for a ceasefire many, many times and long before it happened. Second, I refer to the continuous stances on the necessity of accepting the two-state solution and recognizing the state of Palestine and refer to the facts not meaningless emotions in this case because it is an appreciation for the Albanian people and all those who taught Europe and the world at a dramatic moment, were Albanians who, regardless of religion, became the shield of the Jews. A lesson in history that no one should forget. As for the upheavals and anger in the name of faith of all those who have and suffer from these I suggest they read more of the prophet.
