MEP Fredi Beleri has made strong accusations against Chief Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi, asking him to speed up the vote counting process.
Beleri made the comments during an interview on the show 'Off the Record' with journalist Andrea Danglli on A2 CNN, where he said that in all major countries in the world, votes are counted for 1 and a half days, while in Albania, 1 and a half million votes are being counted for more than a week.
He also said that the opposition must choose other methods to show that it is ready to sacrifice everything for the good of Albania and Albanians.
"These problems, European countries have been solving for at least 200 years. I told them at the beginning of our conversation. What are they still counting? We have 7 days, in an hour it will be Sunday. What are they counting, one and a half million votes, what is that Celibashi doing, has he no shame? What are they counting? In India they do it in a day and a half, in China in a day. What are they counting? There are billions of votes. Which country in Europe, which country that says we are Europe, counts them in a week?
"The rallies, the demonstrations, are a process until election day. When the elections are held, there can be no more protests, but other ways must be found. And the ways are to show that the opposition is not there to preserve its seats, but to be ready to sacrifice everything to convince the citizens that this is not the right path for Albania to go to the EU," Beleri said, among other things, writes A2 CNN.
