From the cells of Prison 313 in Tirana, former President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, quelled rumors that he could win a mandate in the Assembly through the resignation of the winning candidates of the Freedom Party.
Through a Facebook post, Meta thanked his 8,000 voters, who, according to the former president, resisted the extraordinary pressures of the Drug State and did not sell their freedom, spirit, or character in the face of a criminal state machine that severely violated election standards, democracy, and the rule of law.
Dividing the voices suggesting entering the Assembly through the resignation of PL candidates on the closed list of Tirana into benevolent and evil voices, Meta underlined that he would not use any tricks.
"I want to assure everyone that Ilir Metaj, since 2008, when the adverse constitutional changes were made, has fought for representation only through the free and open will of the citizens, in a continuous and principled manner, because this is a matter of my conviction and character and as a result I cannot accept any gimmick or pragmatic solution that goes against the major causes for which I have fought and will always fight. I would like to thank and appreciate Tedi Blushi, and other colleagues in the Freedom Party who fought with dedication in this unequal campaign in the face of the Drug State and its criminal electoral machinery, infidelities and stabs in the back," Meta writes, reports A2 CNN.
The former president also thanked the commissioners, counters, and observers for their persistence in counting and protecting every vote. (A2 Televizion)
