Sali Berisha compared the protest held in front of the Special Court building on the day of the review of security measures for Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj and other investigated individuals, to the attack on the Supreme Court in Colombia in 1985, A2 CNN reports.
"I condemn with the greatest force this coup d'état by Edi Rama, the narco-government and the narco-bashkësi, who took the judges and prosecutors of the Veliaj case hostage for hours. They brought back to Tirana the scenes of the 1980s, when Pablo Escobar attacked the Court and there were many victims there. After 40 or so years, Ediscobar committed the same act against the Court and the Prosecution. In the history of the world there are only two cases, the Escobar case and the Ediscobar case. In the history of the world there are hundreds of cases of protests before the courts, but a state protest constitutes a coup d'état within the state. I guarantee Rama that this unconstitutional crime will be registered and they will be punished in an exemplary manner, so that no one in power will think of attacking another power," Berisha said in front of his supporters gathered in front of SPAK.
What happened in Bogota in 1985?
Colombia's Palace of Justice was attacked in 1985 by gunmen from the leftist guerrilla group M-19. In the ensuing fighting with the army, nearly half of the members of Colombia's Supreme Court were killed and thousands of files were burned.
