The leader of the Movement for National Development, MP Dashamir Shehi, has called on Albanians to condemn the corrupt by voting in the May 11 elections.
Shehi made the comments during an interview on the 'Dita Jonë' show on A2 CNN, where he said that unfortunately corruption is not an issue that decides the fate of the elections.
This is because, according to him, a large part of society is themselves corrupt. Shehi added that the one who steals 2 thousand lek, the one who steals 2 billion, are the same, thieves!
"Berisha was more moral in his attack on SPAK. Plus, he had been in opposition for 12 years and had not signed a single letter. While for the SP there is no excuse. This is the acting prime minister and he addresses SPAK in that way. You have crossed the red line, he says. Why does he set the red line?
Albanians want people who don't put their hands in the pockets of the state. Don't get involved with left and right. Unfortunately, there is no right and left in Albania, because we come from an egalitarian regime that was based on other things, not ideological tendencies. For elections, there is not just one factor, there are many factors. I am calling on Albanians to vote for what is obvious. Corruption in Albania is not the topic that weighs the most on the vote. It should be, for Albanians to condemn the thief with their votes.
"No, you don't and you know why? Because a part of society today is corrupt. Is the one who doesn't pay for electricity stealing from the state? Is the shopkeeper who doesn't pay taxes to the government a petty corrupt person? So corruption has entered society. Society doesn't react because they are corrupt themselves and they say whoever is at the top will steal more. If you steal 2 billion lek, if you steal 2 thousand lek, you are corrupt," said Shehi, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
