The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, during the presentation of the government program for the years 2025-2029, together with experts in the field and with the support of the German CDU foundation, 'Konrad Adeanuer', expressed concern about the current government's ignoring, according to him, of the agricultural sector, emphasizing that, for more than 8 years, the main production in Albania has been cannabis and drugs, neglecting agricultural products.
Berisha blamed the government for the lack of investment and support for agriculture, including land protection and the development of irrigation infrastructure, A2 writes.
Sali Berisha highlighted a significant decline in agricultural and industrial production in recent years, describing Albania as a country that is declining as a producer and is transforming into a country of services and construction, where corruption and drugs dominate.
The DP leader criticized the government for, according to him, very low support for Albanian farmers, emphasizing that the aid is 3-5 times smaller than in the region.
Berisha accused the government of misusing IPARD funds, which were supposed to go to agriculture but were used by the ruling clans. He highlighted the decline in agricultural production and the rise in food prices, calling for urgent intervention to save this sector and increase production.
DP leader Sali Berisha presented a plan to transform agriculture in Albania. Berisha said that every farmer will have a pension and every elderly person in the village will be treated with a minimum subsistence level. The budget for agriculture and livestock will be tripled and the level of countries in the region will be reached. He called for subsidies for every plant, head of livestock and production, and the abolition of punitive taxes on agricultural products. The leader of the Democrat Party also stressed the importance of protecting the land and developing infrastructure for irrigation and drainage. Berisha also said that he will work to multiply fruit trees, especially olives and walnuts.
Sali Berisha promised to increase the budget for agriculture and livestock fivefold in his second year of government, while protecting domestic products. Berisha emphasized the importance of education for farmers and the provision of specialized agricultural services. Berisha opposed the government's plans to transform the Agricultural University and invited professors and students to defend it. Berisha emphasized strong support for young farmers, for soft loans and grants, and for the renewal of the Albanian countryside.
