Visit to the CDU congress, Berisha: It was a journey towards victory, twice as

Sali Berisha called his visit to Berlin, where he participated in the CDU congress, a journey towards victory. Teska drew a parallel with his first visit to Germany after the fall of the dictatorship, the democratic leader asserted that this trip also comes just a short time after he was released from house arrest and is a good omen for the return of the Democratic Party to power.

"This time, the DP wins the elections. This is the essence. And I can tell the democrats and Albanians that the most powerful party in Europe, whose president will take the helm of Europe's leading state in a few weeks, Friedrich Merz, are eagerly awaiting the DP's victory," said Sali Berisha, chairman of the Democratic Party.

The opposition leader also revealed his plan if he comes to power, stating that he will be in line with international partners regarding the issue of illegal immigrants.

"Our partners, our allies, are very clear that with the DP in power, there will be zero trafficking flows to other countries. There will be no more immigrants using the territory of Albania to move towards the West."

With the women's issue and the SPAK investigation on his shoulders, Berisha claimed that the chances of the Democrats winning on May 11 are twice as high as in 1991.

"He put his opponent under 'house arrest', convinced that he couldn't win otherwise. But here is the opponent. I think that perseverance and successful trials make Sali Berisha today, twice as victorious today as in 1991. Twice as many chances."

When asked about Saturday's protest, Berisha affirmed that it will be grand and all citizens will be in Tirana, adding that after this rally, the opposition will not stop until election day.

"This will be a grand protest, in which the Albanian people, Albanians in all four corners of the country and the citizens of Tirana descend on the square as witnesses to the dawn of victory. Now there is only one word, victory. And this victory does not stop. They have understood with each other that they have nothing on the line. So there is no program, a government that does not have a program, that takes a thesis of mine from 2012 and in 2025 turns it into a program."

The opposition leader affirmed that negotiations with the Freedom Party continue to be held together in the elections, while he reiterated to the majority the condition of allowing the diaspora to vote regardless of whether they do not have an Albanian identification document, if they want the DP's votes in Parliament for changes to the Electoral Code.
