Sali Berisha, after his appearance at SPAK where he is under the security measure "compulsory appearance", has issued a strong statement towards the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, and the institution he heads, calling the latter a "section of a drug cartel".
Addressing citizens outside the SPAK premises, Berisha declared that he had left an official message to the head of the Special Prosecution Office: "From today, Altin Dumani will be called Altin Troplini."
According to Berisha, the reason for this epithet is that "Dumani has held an arrest warrant for Xhevdet Troplini, Elvis Doci and other members of a powerful drug cartel for 22 days, allowing them to leave the country without being stopped."
"This state office, paid with the highest salaries in the Balkans, has become a section of the cartel that controls the port of Durres and cocaine trafficking in Europe. For this reason, I officially call Altin Troplini, an associate of the most powerful drug cartel on the continent," Berisha declared.
He accused SPAK of being a structure that makes "bargains with criminals" and "protects traffickers by sabotaging justice."
According to the former prime minister, Elvis Doçi and Xhevdet Troplini – whom he identifies as the cartel bosses – have managed to walk away free, while the Prosecution "has remained passive." (A2 Televizion)
