The Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, has made public the number of Albanians in the diaspora who have submitted a request to register for the May 11 elections, the number of those who have been registered by the CEC for the elections, and the number of those whose request to participate in the elections has been rejected.
During a statement to the media, Celibashi stated that a total of 116,190 voters have applied for registration.
He also announced that there are 86,570 voters whose request to be on the voter list of voters from abroad has been approved and 25,401 citizens whose request has been rejected.
Celibashi also said that the CEC has asked the Assembly to approve the budget for political parties that will participate in the elections as soon as possible.
"We have asked the Assembly to approve the budget for the political parties that will participate in the elections as soon as possible. This budget will be made available to political entities many days before the start of the election campaign. But as for voting from abroad, we have the latest data regarding the process of registering voters from abroad."
There are 116,190 voters who have applied for registration. So unique voters, not requests. This is the number of those who have submitted a request. 140,796 is the number of requests, which means that some of these voters have submitted more than one request. There are 86,570 voters whose request to be on the voter list of voters from abroad has been approved.
