Sali Berisha has decided to repay Ilir Meta's debt by ensuring his mandate as a member of parliament in the May 11 elections, on the closed lists of the Democratic Party. He publicly expressed his guarantee to his ally from the doors of SPAK, where he went to implement the security measure "obligation to appear", writes A2 CNN.
Sinkron: Ilir Meta is a political prisoner and has the full, total support of the DP and the entire Albanian opposition. There is no discussion. Open lists? Can he campaign from prison? He wanted open lists, but they keep him in prison so he can't campaign, because Edi Rama will take the mandates by keeping his opponents in prison.
After communicating with the media and supporters from the courtyard of the Special Court, Berisha held a press conference with journalists at the DP headquarters. He spoke about the primaries, which he described as the main criterion for candidates for MPs, but not an absolute guarantee of securing a place on the closed lists.
Sinkron: This competition is not made to be on safe lists. It is certain that the one who receives the most votes will be a deputy in the Albanian Parliament. But, without a doubt, in the processing of closed lists this is one of the main criteria. Closed lists have allies, they have some conditions. There are some factors that intervene.
Regarding the agreement with the allies, he did not provide details, but denied that there are any problems between them.
Sinkron: There is no stagnation in the negotiations with the allies. The negotiations are going well, the agreement will be submitted at midnight. It is ongoing, but there is no stagnation. No, there is no stagnation. We do not have major problems, however, we will see the end. They are in negotiations, negotiations continue.
Berisha emphasized that in the open list in Tirana, the DP allies will have their representatives. (A2 Televizion)
