Socialist and opposition MPs clashed fiercely on Thursday in the plenary session, due to debates surrounding the arrest of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj.
The fight escalated when Taulant Balla approached the podium, where several Democratic Party deputies attempted to prevent him from speaking, prompting the Republic Guard to intervene. Deputy Petrit Doda was even seen removing his belt in an attempt to hit Balla.
"You have begun to feel the loss of May 11, a loss that will be the deepest you have ever seen," Balla told the Democrats, provoking their reaction.
In response to Balla, DP MP Gazment Bardhi called on the Socialists to dismiss Erion Veliaj. "Dismiss the Mayor of Tirana. I understand the problem you are facing, because he has promised to take the Prime Minister with him. But this is not our job," said Bardhi. (A2 Televizion)
