"Up to 5 years in prison" - Celibashi warns citizens: Do not attempt

The head of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, has warned citizens that if they try to sell, buy or show their vote, they should also consider the criminal consequences.

Celibashi made the comments through a statement to the media, where he also spoke about the security and secrecy of the vote for Albanian emigrants, who are voting for the first time from abroad in the May 11 elections.

Celibashi said, among other things, that the vote administration process, once it enters the DHL postal company and CEC system, is completely guaranteed and does not allow any interference or compromise of confidentiality, writes A2 CNN.

"The moment the ballot is in the DHL and CEC system, I guarantee 100% confidentiality, this is fully guaranteed by us. If voters want to sell, buy or show their vote, it is their business. It means that they have also calculated the criminal consequences. If such a phenomenon occurs, it is accompanied by severe criminal sanctions, up to 3, 4 or 5 years in prison," Celibashi said during his speech. (A2 Televizion)
