Four days after the Central Election Commission opened the portal for registering emigrants to vote on May 11, the Democratic Party is pleased with the turnout and is optimistic about a political rotation from the vote of Albanians abroad.
The coordinator of the blue headquarters for the diaspora, Jozefina Topalli, is again of the opinion that the Socialist Party is several steps ahead of the opposition when it comes to campaigning abroad. "It is a fact that the DP started later than the SP. We have been an arrested party. Under these conditions, the maximum is being done. It is a race against time, since the other party has been working for two years," she tells A2 CNN.
According to Topalli, another factor against the opposition is the lack of finances. "The only thing that always troubles us is money and luxury, here we cannot get them. But we can get them through trust, because the vote is a matter of trust and I strongly believe in the Albanians of the diaspora."
Regarding the lists for deputies and the possibility of exponents from the diaspora being representatives of the Democratic Party, Topalli affirmed that such a thing should happen. "I cannot imagine that there will be no representation from the diaspora, it is a matter of the proportion of votes. Maybe it is the first time and there will not be a high number, but in symbolic numbers it will be on the lists of the DP," says Topalli.
The Democratic Party official called on all Albanians living abroad to register by March 4 and not lose their right to vote. (A2 Televizion)
