The Freedom Party is one of the strongest opposition voices against the socialist government, led by Edi Rama. This is despite the fact that in the prime minister's first term, its president, Ilir Meta, then chairman of the Socialist Movement for Integration, was in coalition with Rama and played an important role in the rotation of power in 2013.

Invited to “Off the Record” by Andrea Danglli, on A2 CNN, PL Secretary General Tedi Blushi also revealed why LSI left that coalition. “Of course we were one of the main factors that denounced corruption, a political force that proposed the legal ban on concessions that cost citizens hundreds of millions of euros, that denounced the cannabisization of the country,” said Blushi. “A force that broke away from that coalition when it realized that Edi Rama was betraying the trust given by Albanians.”

"Today, Mr. Meta has become an inspiring symbol of freedom, due to the fact that, even in conditions of extreme isolation, he has transformed his cell into a trench against this narco-regime. He also turned the presidency into a fortress in defense of the Constitution, which Edi Rama tried to turn into a rag," he added. (A2 Televizion)
