On the second day of her stay in Albania, the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, visited the city of Elbasan, which is also the center of the summer day celebrations. In a statement to the media, she said that she visited several projects in this city and met with students of the “Dhaskal Todri” school. Kos underlined that the projects in Elbasan financed by the EU will continue, writes A2 CNN.
"It is a pleasure to have come to this city on a summer day. It was a pleasure to have had the opportunity to go to some very important projects that are financed by the EU. We first met in the workshop with those women who make wonderful carpets. We talked about their past and then we went to another project that helps abused women. It was difficult and encouraging to talk to them. And the most beautiful thing was that we went to the "Dhaskal Todri" school and talked to those wonderful students. We will try to continue these funds because everyone does a wonderful job. The one that is closest to my heart is the one that has to do with youth," said Kos, reports A2 CNN.
Regarding integration, Mrs. Kos expressed her belief that Albania will soon become the 28th country of the European Union if it continues at the same pace. In her hand she held two summers, which she considered lucky; one for the EU and one for Albania.
"Yesterday I met with various actors and I can say that Albania has progressed wonderfully. There is still a lot of work and reforms to do, but if the current pace is maintained, it will be completed in 2027. I believe that soon, but there is still homework to be completed. But in the European Union, there may not be 27 member states, but I hope that Albania will become the 28th country."
