The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has harshly accused Prime Minister Edi Rama, describing his behavior at the Council of Europe as that of a "bandit" and warning of the end of what he calls "Rama's narco-dictatorship" on May 11, through the votes and engagement of the Albanian diaspora.
In a speech to Democratic Party supporters in Brescia, Berisha stated that the DP has gone through a difficult path, but has risen again to defend democracy and the national interest. He emphasized the continued support of Italian friends and the political force Forza Italia, respectfully recalling the figure of Silvio Berlusconi as a great friend of Albania.
"My friends, the facade fell. First of all, I want to tell you that last Monday I was received at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the great temple of European democracy, in two hearings, in the two main parliamentary groups dedicated to Albania and before a series of special meetings including here, the president of the Council of Europe assembly and delegations of member states, in which I was the voice of the Albanians. I presented the narco-dictatorship of Edi Rama. I recognized our friends in Europe that the narco-dictator, in order to obtain a 4th mandate, arrested and imprisoned the leaders of the three main opposition parties", said Berisha.
Berisha also touched on his visit to the Council of Europe, where he said he was hosted at two important hearings and held meetings with senior representatives of European institutions. He stated that he had presented evidence of what he described as Edi Rama's "narco-dictatorship", including the arrest of opposition leaders, the legalization of cannabis and the activation of criminal gangs in Albania and abroad.
The former prime minister added that Prime Minister Rama's official dinner at the Council of Europe was canceled due to his unworthy behavior, comparing him to dark figures of dictatorship and authoritarian regimes. According to Berisha, Rama was accompanied by people who then threatened the representatives who had canceled this dinner with messages.
At the end of his speech, Berisha expressed his conviction that on May 11, Albanians in the diaspora will be decisive for the future of the country: "There is no gang that can defeat Albanians. On May 11, the diaspora signs the end of the narco-dictatorship."
Following this, Berisha called on all Albanians abroad to be united and determined to bring about change. (A2 Televizion)
